In the Spirit of Christmas, let's overlook the fact that it has been a very, very long time since I posted on our donkey blog and let me take this special opportunity to wish everyone a very

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks to your kindness and incredibly generosity, seventeen more donkeys have found their forever home at the Refuge. Your amazing donations and sponsorships have given all of our donkeys a warm, safe home, exceptional veterinary and dental care, and the best pedicures that a donkey could ask for. The extra hugs and scritches you gave them during your visits gave them the much needed love that they had been missing.

The main barn has a new overhang, additional pasture has been fenced and our donkeys have fresh water on demand. The barns have additional lighting and we have been able to purchase portable fence panels that allow us to provide temporary sanctuary for new donkeys that have special needs or are having challenges fitting into a herd.

Your donations have provided funds for a full-time farm hand to work with Rob doing farm maintenance and donkey care from March until September, and part-time staff for the remainder of the year.

It has been busy at the Refuge and Mother Nature has turned the valley into an amazing winter wonderland. The donkeys are all decked out in their winter coats - except for Jack who, for this winter season, decided that he would much rather wear the latest in donkey fashion, a padded pink blanket.

Please join Jack, this year's Christmas donkey, and his friends at the Refuge this coming weekend and also the 29th and 30th from Noon until 3pm for hot chocolate and friendship.

Last year our visitors surprised and delighted us with donations and sponsorships during our Christmas Open Houses and were rewarded with donkey hugs and kisses from our fuzzy residents. A few particularly generous visitors even got hugs from Rob. It doesn't get much better than that!
