ROSIE

Sunday I met Rosie for a few moments. She is very pretty and looks a lot like Jack and a bit like Farrah. She is overweight with a fat roll on her neck and sides and a large derriere like our Deena. Above all, though, when you look into her eyes, she looks very sad. A more complete history of her will hopefully help us to understand what has made her so sad so that we can work to restore her happiness. My older son and his family will be visiting the Refuge this week. John is stationed in Taloyoak in Nunavut and Bambi and the kids, Justin and Kara live in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. John is an amazing picture taker so I have asked him to take a headshot of each of the donkeys as well as some shots around the Refuge. My plan is to profile one donkey per week with a picture, interest facts about the donkey such as age, size, colour, relatives at the Refuge, as well as any special care that the donkey requires and any special encounters and insights that I have had with the donkey. I have pledged to learn how to use YouTube as there will also be videos on the blogspot. Stay tuned. This could be interesting! Tomorrow, Kara and Justin get to meet Franny and Fez, the donkeys that they sponsored last year, and to choose this year's donkeys. It will be fun to watch them make their choices. Well, today is either go-cart or waterpark day with the grandkiddies. :) ? :) Have a wonderful day. Visit the Refuge soon, and remember that we count on your generosity to be able to care for these beautiful creatures (the donkeys, I mean, not the grandchildren).TTYS.

  1. I'm very interested to see a photo of Rosie. My sister has a farm in Salmon Arm and many years ago (at least 10 I think) she bought a miniature donkey for ME since I love donkeys so much. Her name was Rosie and my sister bred her then sold her and her baby (Shasta). There is a donkey at the Maplewood Farm here in North Vancouver who might be 'my' Rosie but I don't know yet if they still have her. If not, the new Rosie MIGHT be 'my' Rosie which would be most interesting and of course I would have to also sponsor her as well as our other 4 donkeys.
My Rosie was a gray/white mix with a darkish 'stripe' along her side. Very interesting...

  2. Hi Penny. I will be at the Refuge tomorrow so will post a picture of Rosie tomorrow night. She is "salt and pepper". Wouldn't it be something is she is one and the same.
