BIRTHDAY GIRL SPONSORS JORGE

On Sunday we had a visit from the Higginbottom family. It had been Brook's birthday and her gift from her grandparents was to pick the donkey she wished to sponsor for the year. She did not take this opportunity lightly, and along with her cousins Madison and Devon she examined every donkey at the refuge. This was serious business. After much consideration, Brook chose our newest donkey, Jorge. Brook was our very first Jorge sponsor and was joined by her cousins who also sponsored our new resident. I always think there should be something very special bestowed upon the first sponsor of each donkey each year. Hmmm....I will have to think about that for next year. I am sure if Rob and Shirley read this posting they will be shaking their heads wondering what crazy thing I will come up with next. Speaking of such, did I tell you that there is a free pancake breakfast for Members Only (they can bring guests for $2 each) on September 9th before the Refuge opens. I am very excited as I love get-togethers. And who better to get together with than people of like-mind. DONKEY LOVERS. Memberships are available to purchase at the Donkey Shoppe or through our website. For adults the cost is $40 including our members only T-shirt or $25 with no T-shirt. Youth is $30/$15. Membership includes a free admission coupon for one person and the Pancake Breakfast as well as bragging rights because you belong to a very, very special and caring group of Donkey Nuts. And please consider sponsoring a donkey - I had hoped for 200 sponsorships during Donkey Days but our total was less that 60. YOUR HEART WILL LOVE YOU!
