The Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge Society is a 50 acre facility located at 7877 Skimikin Road in the Turtle Valley near Chase, BC. We are dedicated to rehabilitating and caring for unwanted, surrendered, abused and neglected donkeys. When donkeys are abused they require years of special care, costly vet and farrier work and years of love and devotion to heal the scars made by man. We are blessed to be able to facilitate this healing with love and care.

"Rock and Roll" at the Refuge
Hi Everyone. The barn overhang is complete so today we got to pick Rocks and Roll them into a pile. Who knew how many rocks could be in an 80' by 12' area. Marion, Sean, my husband Tom and I worked for about two hours and got the job done.
Our reward - you've got it - time with the donkeys. We got to brush and walk six of them and, except for Jose who suddenly decided he was not moving, at all, the donkeys and the three of us had lots of fun.
Speaking of the barn upgrade, the new overhang on the main barn looks amazing. Once the fences are rebuilt and the ground under the overhang is level, the donkeys will use the overhang area to protect them from the heat and the rain.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone. If you are wondering what to do on a special Sunday afternoon, the Refuge is open tomorrow from 11am to 3pm. It is beautiful out there and the donkeys love the attention.
