A visit to another Donkey Farm where special care is given to rescued donkeys.

Hello again, it is raining like crazy outside (which we desperately need) so I thought this might be a good time to sit down and post some news on the blog. We have been very busy getting my studio finished and all my weaving stuff moved in. In between that there has been yard clean up and organization duties for the upcoming Donkey Days on Saturday June 19, 2010. Bob the farrier arrived today and everyone got a nice hoof trim. The only donkeys that were hard to handle were Lady and Fifi. Lady however was very easy to catch and halter and she settled in for her trim after only a few minutes of bad behaviour. Juanita was not a good girl , but then she is in heat and that changes all the rules in their minds. Juanita's seedy toe is just about gone and Pueblo's old abscess will be completely trimmed away on the next farrier visit. Everyone else's feet are in good shape. Hanna the puppy was spayed a week ago and has been tied up, or walked on a lease ever since. I don't know who will be happier me or Hanna when Thursday rolls around and she can be set free. I have started doing the Farmer's Markets again. I am in Chase on Fridays and Sorrento on Saturdays. The garden is partially planted however the dirt was so dry it was like powder. The rain we are getting now is needed for the pastures, the garden and the forests. No one in the province of B.C. will be complaining about this rain as it has been a very dry winter and water restrictions have already been in place in some areas of the Interior. I guess that is it for now. Have a great day. Cheers Shirley
