Happy New Year

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year to you and your family. Last year on the farm brought a lot of changes and we have so much that we are thankful for. We look forward to this year and all it will bring and the lessons that come along with each experience. Now that January is here we concentrate on all the projects that need to be accomplished for the year and of course we are always working on our plans for Donkey Days.

The picture on this entry is of Hanna our newest addition to the family. We just received her two days ago. She is a Maremma Sheep Dog and she is the same breed as Abbey. It is our hope that Abbey will train Hanna and teach her everything that she needs to know to be a good guardian dog. Abbey is 9 years old now and we want Hanna to have time to mature before she has to take over the job of guarding the farm. It takes Guardian Dogs two years before they settle in to their job and their teen age years are always a challenge as they have to learn to understand what needs to be barked at and what doesn't. So far Hanna has barked at the cats so her first lesson has already started.
