PANCAKES AND SAUSAGES - Mmmmmm!!

Good Morning Everyone

What's Better Than Sharing A Meal With Friends?
I am sure many of you know that we are having a pancake breakfast at the Refuge on Sunday morning, September 9th from 10 am to Noon.  The breakfast is free to members (even if you become a member just before you eat) and $10 for everyone else (price includes gate admission to the Refuge).

I Love Pancakes.  I remember when we were children my Dad used to make us pancakes that looked like Mickey Mouse.  He was a railroader so we didn't see a lot of him and pancake breakfast with him was very special.  It's kind of funny, but everytime I smell bacon it reminds me of him.  Bacon frying in the kitchen and the smell of good coffee at all hours of the night meant that Dad was off to work.  But I digress....

What started out as a little thank you to members and volunteers for their support has morphed into a  wonderful celebration honouring community, friendship and commitment.  The donkeys are pretty excited to see everyone and, just for us, are already sprouting their winter coats.

Rob and Sean will be behind the grill cooking the pancakes and sausages with Patti's assistance.  Tom, Tami, Jerry, Kay and I will be zipping around making sure there are lots of syrup and fresh coffee, and clean tables for our guests.

Laura will be selling memberships to our non-member guests who have realized that for an extra $15 they can support our donkeys AND get a free breakfast.  And she will be very pleased to help you sponsor a donkey.  Very pleased.

Shirley will be at the till and will be happy to show you our WONDERFUL NEW CALENDAR.

Does this sound like a commercial?  Well, yes it is.  I have to admit that when it comes to raising money to care for the donkeys, I am shameless.  I love my donkeys.

Please mark your calendars and join us on the 9th.

PS - I am happy to report that our Lillie is feeling much better and her hoof is healing.
