The Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge Society is a 50 acre facility located at 7877 Skimikin Road in the Turtle Valley near Chase, BC. We are dedicated to rehabilitating and caring for unwanted, surrendered, abused and neglected donkeys. When donkeys are abused they require years of special care, costly vet and farrier work and years of love and devotion to heal the scars made by man. We are blessed to be able to facilitate this healing with love and care.

Early Morning At The Refuge
This morning I got be the designated pooper scooper at the Refuge. Shirley is under the weather and Mondays and Tuesdays are Sean's days off so it seemed like a great idea to pop out and help with the morning chores. By the time I got there at 8 AM the donkeys were out on pasture enjoying their breakfast which meant that Rob had already been busy. Everything else seemed to already be done but Rob was kind enough to leave the scooping duty for me. It was so peaceful there, and except for the occasional bray, so quiet. I know that scooping poop in the mammoth and special needs donkeys areas represents only a fraction of the morning chores that Rob, Shirley and Sean seem to do so effortlessly but it still felt really great to contribute even in such a small way. Now if only I could gather up that same enthusiasm for cleaning my own house. Heehee.
